Happy Travel Life: The Grand Sumo Tournament in Osaka.

The Grand Sumo tournament play a match from 8:30 am to 6 pm at The Osaka Prefecture Gymnasium.

Main Schedule of The Grand Sumo Tournament

8:30　Opening
8:40　Match of Lowest rank, second lowest rank, third lowest rank and "Makushita" rank.
14:15　The ceremony of "Jyuryo wrestler" entering the ring.
14:35　Match of "Jyuryo" rank
15:40　The ceremony of "Makuuchi wrestler" entering the ring.
15:55　The ceremony of "Yokozuna" entering the ring.
16:10　Match of "Makuuchi" rank.
17:55　The ceremony of "Yumitori-shiki"
18:00　Closing

Period：From March 2nd week to 3rd week.

While the sumo wrestling,the surrounding area of the Gymnasium is decorated with many traditional flags.

There are many young wrestlers going around the gymnasium, if you can not watch the game, it is fun just to taste the atmosphere.

When you enter the entrance at gymnasium, these shops are called "Sumo Jaya".
These are traditional shops that have continued since the Edo era, selling tickets and souvenirs to familiar customers.

There are waiters at the storefront called "Dekata-san".
They are wearing traditional Kimono called "Tattuke-Hakama".

They attend their familiar customer to customers sheet.
And, They bring something foods and souvenir to customers sheet.
Customer can order them some food and drink. They can deliver it to customer.
You should take some tip to them, If you order something.

Sumo Jaya

I recommend you should buy chair sheet at The Osaka gymnasium.
The price is reasonable. You can extend your legs.

These seats are covered by Japanese cushion.

You can buy some drinks and foods in the gymnasium.
However, you can bring some foods and drinks from outside.
It's no problem, you can bring KFC or McDonald.

If you want to get some delicious Japanese foods. I recommend you get it at basement floor of The Takashimaya department store.
